DSI synths in the wild

Postby Fuseball » Sat Jun 28, 2014 10:54 pm

Pretty sure we had a thread for this sort of thing on the old forum. :)

Been channel hopping round the Glastonbury coverage on the BBC in the UK and spotted a Prophet 12 played by MGMT, including one gratuitous slow focus shot of its knobby interface.

Makes a change from all the myriad Nords on display, although Bryan Ferry had a Nord Modular onstage. No idea what use that would be!

Front Line Assembly's new CD from last year is void of all guitars, only synths, and on the notes, they list all synths used and the Mopho X4 and Evolver were listed amongst many other makes.
Nice to see you here as well, Fuseball!

The Prophet 12 has been on stage with Atticus Ross for the NIN tour, also photos of it in the studio with Trent. Trent has always been a fan of DSI, I remember seeing the MEK on stage in 09.

I think Bill Leeb credits the Tempest as well, great album.

Not my kind of music, but my girlfriend likes some pop bands that use the P08 as their main polysynths: CHVRCHES and Little Boots. Their sound is quite enjoyable!

There are others out there... Radiohead also uses a Prophet 08 live; Peter Dyer uses the Prophet 12 on a lot of bands... there are many DSI on the wild!

Luke Abbott uses a Tempest on a lot of his new album... but says he hates it!
