It's true that, without the direct connection to DSI, there's something missing here. But I like the fresh start that this forum gives us, especially with our friend, Chysn, as the administrator. If the old forum comes back, I'll probably continue here.

Great to see a collective thus far of people with quite a bit of knowledge/experience. Great to see you Razmo and Bald Eagle as well. Hope the secret old forum gatekeeper was not a Temptest owner and finally had enough and...? Sorry, just way my brain works. How else will DSI Alpha/Beta Test new O.S. or glean some form of feedback from customer base if they were not already lurking? Sure glad I waited on making that big purchase...

From the looks of it, some sort of SQL database error. We don't know who administers the forum and have never had any direct contact with them. No news here.

To be honest, I hope this forum will be the new one, taking over from the former... the lack of attention when it went down does not seem like a good thing, and I think it went down too many times to be honest.

Hope to see a dedicated thread for OS updates again soon.

I, too, would rather stay with this forum if the older one comes back again. This has been yet another reminder that everything posted there is in unreliable hands. Here, we all know Chysn, and he's on the ball. I remember on the old forum certain things being systematically deleted. No more of that nonsense.

I saw two types of posting deletion on the old forum. One was the big database crash where several weeks of postings was lost. The other is the sometimes rather hard moderation of discussions about the forum quality. I remember seeing a thread being deleted this year of exactly that reason. It was just gone without a word.

Besides that the old forum is a gem but as you say quite vulnerable as not enough system administration care is put into that project. Good systematic backups and timely recovery is what it takes. Oh and off site backups too. Plus that backups are tested on a regular basis instead only when they are needed. Running a good stable forum is a multi person effort.

I will happily help out with some of the technical stuff. But lets see how things look when that point is reached.
