Yeah, I mentioned the "lifeboat" as an off-the-cuff metaphor on the first day, and decided to just run with it.

It might take a day or so for the domain to become fully active because of DNS caching by your ISP. But after a day or so, if you see any problems with the new domain (broken images, etc.), please report them here.

Works like a charm here using dsi-lifeboat.com without the initial www. In fact I am logged into the forum at both domains at the same time. Will be interesting to see how logout on one domain performs at the other domain.

Sessions are bound to a domain, so chances are that a logout at one will not affect your other session.

Right! Logged out on the old domain and posting here on the new domain which is still logged in. The only thing that did not seem to work is the "view new posts" link on the forum front page. Unlike a session cookie its probably bound to the user in the forum database so that makes sense.

PLEASE don't add post waiting times though That was the thing I hated the most about the old board.

I added email verification for new users, as natrixgli suggested. Also, dslsynth has generously volunteered to act as a moderator, so we'll have two of us working on stamping stuff out.
